Vacation

All of us, at times,
Did dream of a vacation,
Without paying the dimes,

Maybe to a hill station,
Where peace surrounds us,
Free from the workload situation,

Recently everything’s come to a standstill,
No soul to be seen in the office,
Or in the mill,

But not out of pleasure,
Or to seek the pirate’s treasure,

The globe has been hit,
By something worse than the plague,
Nothing seems to contain it,
Every solution seems vague,

All corners filled with chaos and ruckus;
Loss of lives and hope;
This pandemic has indeed shaken us,

And while we disdain,
The medical heroes work diligently,
Ignoring even their own pain,

Reflecting what humanity really is,
Holding hands in support with care,
Even in a grim situation like this,

Dedicated to their duty to mankind,
They work hard to ensure,
No one is left behind,

We are and should be in our houses,
With our loved ones, children and spouses,
And even though it’s an impostion,
This is a type of vacation,

Probably not the one we envision,
But for stopping to think,
Act empathetically and,
Make a wise decision,

To support and help the global community,
To protect ourselves and the ones we care about,
To save our planet and humanity,
Even after the pandemic dies out.
